Say goodbye to dairy spreads! Vutter is a plant-based butter made from real food and contains no nuts, gluten, palm oil or soy. Voted ‘Best NZ made Vegan Butter Alternative’, this has all the flavour and none of the compromise.

What to prepare

  • 1 cup flour

  • ¼ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp ginger ¼ tsp cinnamon 

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 75g Vutter (room temperature)

  • 2 tsp aquafaba (the liquid in a can of chickpeas)

  • 2 tsp golden syrup

How to make them

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C on bake, and line 2 light-coloured baking trays with baking paper. 

  2. Mix together flour, baking soda, spices and sugar.

  3. Add Vutter and rub together until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.

  4. Add aquafaba and golden syrup. Mix until it forms a firm dough.

  5. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.

  6. Dust a counter with flour and roll out dough to preferred thickness, between 5 and 10mm.

  7. Using biscuit cutters, cut out shapes and place onto baking trays. 

  8. Bake for 10 minutes, and then cool on a rack before eating.
